Becoming the Fear:
My Story as an Athlete and Coach
Hi, I’m Bec — founder of Be The Fear, triathlon coach, personal trainer, and someone who knows exactly how it feels to take on something that once seemed out of reach.
I didn’t grow up in endurance sport. I found running first, then discovered triathlon — and it completely changed my life. Learning to swim freestyle as an adult was one of my biggest challenges — and overcoming that fear is still one of my proudest accomplishments.
For over a decade, I’ve been passionate about triathlon. I trained, raced, and coached myself and others while working full-time in the military and then as a civilian security analyst. But over time, I knew I wanted more — to help everyday athletes do things they never thought they could. After completing my own IRONMAN journey, I made the decision to leave corporate life and turn that passion into a career.
That’s where the name Be The Fear came from. It’s a reminder that fear isn’t something to avoid — it’s something to rise into. Whether you're signing up for your first race, getting back into training after a long break, or chasing your biggest endurance goal yet… you don’t wait to feel fearless. You become it.
Personal Journey
I’ve stood on the start line of my first triathlon with nerves buzzing. I’ve juggled early mornings and two-a-day sessions around long workdays. I’ve trained through setbacks, breakthroughs, and everything in between. And I’ve coached others across different levels to build confidence, gain strength, and grow into the athlete they never thought they could be.
I bring not just technical knowledge — but real-world experience of what it’s like to train around a full life, to chase goals while navigating fear, and to keep showing up when it matters most.

Race Highlights
These results represent years of hard work — but more importantly, they’re a reflection of what happens when you choose to back yourself and keep going.
why be the fear?
Be The Fear isn’t just a name — it’s a mindset. That mindset I learned through years in the military and Ironman training, and it is central to everything I coach. It’s about showing up even when you’re scared, backing yourself when the goal feels big, and becoming the version of you that others (and eventually, you) see as strong, capable, and resilient. It’s about becoming the fear.
And it is a cool play on my name =)
my plan for be the fear
To build a supportive community where athletes of all levels thrive and achieve their goals in triathlon and endurance sport while living strong, balanced, and fulfilling lives.
